Ouyètiè 7 is a group of married women of the village of Nitabogoro in Koutiala City, Region of Sikasso (third administrative region of the Republic of Mali). They live in large traditional extended families, and they average 36 years of age and are the mothers of at least six children. The women mainly grow peanuts and millet.

Concerned about making their farms profitable, the group members decided to join the Soro Yiriwaso loan program two years ago. After having correctly repaid the first loan, they are now on their second farm loan.

The current loan will be used to buy a sufficient quantity of seeds for planting peanuts and millet; some minor supplies and equipment; and some fertilizers and the like, for farming. These items are procured at the grand marketplace of Koutiala. Following the off-season, the harvests are stored for a time, so that they gain in value. And then they are sold at the same marketplace and at surrounding marketplaces at the retail level (often wholesale), in cash transactions, to customers generally from large cities.

The group members each intend to realize, after selling their produce, an average profit of 50,000 francs CFA, which will be used to repay the loan and to cover common family expenses.

PREMIER ET DERNIER FEED BACK
