San Juan Masias Group

The San Juan Masías group is located in the town of San Juan Masías in the region of Callao, Peru. It has been together for three years and is made up of 11 members, all great businesspeople with desires to move up in life. The members make a living in diverse economic activities, such as selling beauty products, clothing, food, etc. Among the members are Rafael Trebejos Rodriguez (seen seated in the photo), who has been the group's president since it was formed. He is from the Ancash region of Peru and is 54 years old. After he was laid off unexpectedly he could not find a job, so he started working with his wife selling juices at outdoor stands. At first, he says it was difficult because he was accustomed to working in an office, but out of major economic necessity he had to keep making headway. Now, 11 years later, he looks at what he has achieved with satisfaction. He now has a food stand in a local market and has seen his daughter, accompanied by his wife, study abroad. With 2,000 soles from the group loan approved by Kiva partner EDAPROSPO, he plans to continue growing his business and working even harder to fulfill his dream of having a restaurant, and in this way he can continue supporting his children and his young grandson.

La Alcom “SAN JUAN MASIAS” se encuentra ubicada en la urbanización San Juan Masías en la región del CALLAO – LIMA – PERU; tiene 3 años de constituida y está conformada por 11 socios, todos grandes emprendedores y con deseos de superación dedicados a diversas actividades económicas como la venta de productos de belleza, ropa, comida, etc. Entre los cuales encontramos al señor TREBEJOS RODRIGUEZ, Rafael Fortunato (a quien lo podemos observar sentado en la foto adjunta); Presidente de la alcancía desde hace 03 años; él es un ancashino de 54 años que debido a un despido improvisto y al no encontrar trabajo tuvo que salir a trabajar junto a su esposa vendiendo jugos ambulatoriamente.
Al inicio fue difícil, como el lo comenta, debido a que el señor estaba acostumbrado a trabajar en oficina, pero era mayor la necesidad económica que tuvo que seguir adelante.
Hoy después de 11 años mira con satisfacción sus logros obtenidos ya que ahora él cuenta con un puesto de comida en un mercado y ha logrado que su hija, acompañada de su esposa, estudie en el extranjero. Con los S/. 2,000.00 otorgados por EDAPROSPO piensa seguir incrementado su negocio y trabajar más arduamente para lograr su sueño de tener un restaurante y de ese modo seguir apoyando a sus hijos y a su nietecito.
