My name is Mukhtaran and I have lived in Borewala, Pakistan for the past 12 years. Borewala is famous for its shrines. My husband, Munir Ahmad, runs a grocery shop in the community. I operate a clothes-embroidery business, which provides good income. I have saved that money for a rainy day. I’m applying for a loan to diversify my husband’s grocery shop.
I’m the group leader of three other women from my area. Rubina Kosar baji wants a loan to buy seasonal vegetables to resell. Qaisra baji wants a loan to repair her auto-rickshaw (a local three-wheeled motor vehicle). Rasheedan Begum baji wants a loan to buy supplies (wires, switcbboards, switches and tube lights) for her electric shop.
This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee each other's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.
