Prossie is a leader of five members of a group. She is 27 and married with four children between 6 and 12 years of age. All of her children go to school. She resides in, and owns, a two-room house where she stays with six people. Prossie takes care of additional family members. There is electricity but no piped water at her home. The family gets three meals a day. She resides and works in a semi-urban area which is in the outskirts of Kampala. Prossie operates a ladies salon in Ndeeba, one of Kampala suburbs. She works an average of 15 people a day and sells to all categories of people. She works seven days a week. Prossie buys cosmetics and hair relaxers from Kampala city shops. She uses public transport to and from shopping. Her major monthly expenses include medication for the business premises, school fees and feeding the family. She has been in this business for the last four years . Her main challenge is the rainy season which stops her customers from coming to her. Prossie has been with MCDT for over two years and is servicing her fourth loan, working all along with the same groupmates. She wants to use this loan to buy more cream relaxers and a Hair Dryer. Prossie aspires to see her business grow bigger and to own a permanent business premise.
