Bilquis Muhammad Ali Group

Bilquis baji is the wife of Muhammad ali. They have lived in Kasur, Pakistan, for the past 14 years. Kasur city is famous for its shrines and sweetmeat. Her husband is an auto-rickshaw (a local three-wheeled motor vehicle) driver and earns income. He drives a rented auto-rickshaw. Bilquis baji operates a thread-selling business. She gets thread from old clothes and after washing it, makes a roll of thread and sells it to shops. After that struggle she earns income. Bilquis baji is applying for a loan to repair her husband’s auto-rickshaw because it has a problem and needs urgent repairs because its engine seizes.

She is the group leader of four other women from her area. Rehana baji wants a loan to buy shoes for her shoe-selling business. Sajida baji wants a loan to buy an auto-rickshaw. Anayat baji and Suraiya baji each want loans to buy material (beads and thread) for their Paranda-making business. (Paranda is an item to tie back the hair tightly.)

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.
