Andrei Avramenco

Andrei has been selling perfume oils for over five years. This has been a very successful business. When Andrei originally intended to start his business he was skeptical because he did not have enough money to launch the business. He had just closed a lucrative soap shop temporarily to move to a new location. After finally signing the lease, not even two weeks before he was to open, the owners of the property told him that he could not sell jewelry there because his shop would be competing with a major new store that was opening soon. Andrei had two choices. He could either back out of the lease or continue with the lease with a different product mix. This was a very viable location and he did not want to let it go. Over the coming days Andrei had to come up with an idea that he could feel comfortable with in order to move forward. He already had the oils because he carried them in his soap shop, so he decided to renegotiate the lease for a small fragrance shop instead. He knows that this would turn out to be one of the best decisions of his life. Andrei borrowed from the Kiva partner, Microinvest, to pay for the original rental of the shop. Andrei is sure that he will succeed in his business and will return the loan in time to Microinvest.
