Rozi Begum Michael John Masih Group

Rozi begum baji is the wife of Michael John Masih who has lived in a mid-size city named Vehari, Pakistan for the past 15 years. Her husband runs a tailoring center in the community where he stitches clothes for people and charges them different rates. He charges US$ 2 for simple stitching and US$ 3 for designer clothes.

Rozi baji also prepares embroidered dresses on orders which she collects from clothing shops. She saves her income in a "committee" and plans to renovate her house when it is her turn to get the full "committee" amount. She is applying for a loan to buy an electric sewing machine for her husband’s tailoring center.

She is the group leader for four other women from her locality. Fozia baji wants a loan to buy groceries for her grocery shop. Christina Shahnaz baji wants a loan to buy medicines to resell. Bable baji wants a loan to repair her auto-rickshaw (a local three-wheeled motor vehicle). Rukhsana Rani baji wants a loan to buy clothes to sell.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
