Fatoumata Traoré

Fatoumata Traoré, age 54, is married and the mother of four children (3 boys and 1 girl). She resides with her husband and their children in Wayerma II, a working-class district of Sikasso (third administrative region of the Republic of Mali). She is a secretary by training, achieving the Certificat d’Aptitude Professionnel (CAP). After the closure of a state organization called C.A.C. about 15 years ago that use to stock and to market grains, this women picked up again by getting started in this same business of stocking and marketing grains (corn, millet, sorghum, peanuts, fonio, etc.), which is going well for her.

Concerned about doing better in satisfying her burgeoning customer base, she decided to join the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso four years ago now. After three solidarity loans (group loans) in a women's association in her area (Association MALI BOMO de Wayerma II), she is now on her fourth individual loan for stocking and marketing. All of her preceding loans have been correctly repaid.

With this loan, she intends to buy two sacks of corn, three sacks of sorghum, two sacks of peanuts, two sacks of fonio, four sacks of millet, etc. Supplies of these goods are gotten in Zégoua and in towns surrounding Sikasso. The goods are then stocked in her store located at the marketplace in her district in order to be resold at the retail level. Customers are generally the heads of households.

She envisions realizing a monthly profit of 100,000 francs CFA that will be used essentially to augment her working capital, to help with family expenses, to make loan interest payments, and to invest the rest in her business.

Fatoumata Traoré a 54 ans mariée et mère de quatre enfants (3 garçons et 1 fille) Elle réside avec son époux et leurs enfants à Wayerma II, un des quartiers populaires de la ville de Sikasso ( troisième région administrative de la république du Mali).
Fatoumata Traoré est une secrétaire de formation, niveau Certificat d’Aptitude Professionnel (CAP). Après la fermeture d’une structure de l’état appelée la C.A.C il y a environ quinze ans, qui avait comme activité principale le stockage et commercialisation des céréales, cette femme a repris en se lançant dans cette même activité de stockage et commercialisation des céréales (maïs, mil, sorgho,arachides, fonio, etc.) qui marche bien avec elle.
Dans le souci de mieux satisfaire sa clientèle de plus en plus croissante, elle décida de rejoindre l’institution de microfinance Soro Yiriwaso depuis maintenant quatre ans. Après 3 prêts solidaires (prêt de groupe) dans une association des femmes de son quartier (Association MALI BOMO de Wayerma II), elle est actuellement à son quatrième prêt individuel de stockage et commercialisation. et tous ses prêts précédents ont été correctement remboursés.
Elle compte acheter avec ce prêt 2 sacs de maïs, 3 sacs de Sorgho, 2 sacs d’arachide, 2 sacs de fonio, 4 sacs de mil, etc. Elle s’approvisionne à Zégoua et dans les localités environnantes de Sikasso avant de les stocker dans son magasin situé au marché de son quartier afin de les revendre en détail à une clientèle composée généralement des chefs de famille.
Elle envisage réaliser avec ce prêt un bénéfice mensuel de 100 000 FCFA qui sera utilisé essentiellement pour augmenter son fonds de commerce, contribuer aux dépenses familiales, payer les intérêts de son prêt et investir le reste dans son activité.
