The group Kotognontala1 is composed of married women from the hamlet of Adamabougou of Koutiala City (third administrative region of the Republic of Mali). The women live in large traditional extended families with their children, husbands, in-laws, etc. They average 40 years of age and 6 children each. Their main business involves growing peanuts and beans.

Concerned about making their plantations profitable, the group members decided to join the Soro Yiriwaso loan program four years ago. After having correctly repaid the three preceding loans, they are on their fourth farming loan. The current loan will be used to buy sacks of seeds to plant peanuts and beans and also to buy minor supplies and equipment for farming, exclusively at the grand marketplace of Koutiala City. Following the off-season, the harvests are stored for a certain time, so that they gain value. And then they are sold at the grand marketplace of Koutiala and in surrounding marketplaces at the retail level (often wholesale), in cash transactions and on credit in a few rare instances. Customers come generally from large cities.

After selling their agricultural products, the group members each intend to realize a profit of 50,000 that will be use to repay the loan and to cover common family expenses.
