KOUDOGBO Charlotte was born on December 28, 1987 in Gbessou, a village in Oueme County, where she traces her family roots. She is married and the mother of a 2-year-old girl and lives with her family in Kowegbo, an outlying district of Cotonou, the economic capital of Benin.

Charlotte used to sell fresh tomatoes door-to-door. But two years ago, she abandoned this business and switched to selling various grocery items (canned tomatoes, bicarbonates, pasta, cubes, etc.) She sells her merchandise at TOKPA, the grand international market of Benin, under a shed that she rented from Société de Gestion des Marchés. Her customers grow in number day by day, and she has need of more financing, which she lacks for responding to the demand. This is why she’s requesting a loan from Alidé.

Alidé means “there is always a path for the poorest” in Benin’s local language of Fon. Benin is a small West African country located next to Nigeria and has a per capita GDP of $1,500.
