Rehana M.akbar Group

Rehana baji has lived in a city named Borewala, Pakistan for the past 15 years. Her husband's name is M.Akbar; he runs a garment business. He sells both ladies & gentlemen's garments. He has 5 years of experience in this business. Rehana baji is the mother of three daughters. All of her daughters are enrolled in a local school. She prepares embroidered dresses on order and from this income she pays the school fees of her daughters. She successfully repaid her two loans from Asasah (a microfinance institute of Pakistan). Now she is applying again for a loan to buy garments to increase the profit of her husband.

She is the group leader of four other women from her locality. Amna baji wants a loan to buy iron for making iron rods to sell. Khadija baji wants a loan to buy jewelry to sell. Riffat baji wants a loan to buy an auto-rickshaw (a local three-wheeled motor vehicle). Zakia baji wants a loan to buy paint brushes for her paint business.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.




About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
