Born in 1937, Nih Chunga Emmanuel is married and has five children, two of whom are less than 15 years old. Due to health reasons, he was unable to meet the academic needs of all his children, and two of them had to drop out of school. Determined to see all his children become responsible citizens in the future, he joined GHAPE in 2005 and received his first loan of $40, which he invested in pig rearing. As of now, he has proven his credibility by receiving and repaying loans totaling $370.

Given a loan of $225, he intends to buy three piglets, one goat and construct bee hives for the production and sale of honey. Pigs and goats have highly valued in his community as a source of food. The manure he gets from the pig farm shall be used to open a vegetable garden. Honey is equally highly demanded for medicinal purposes and so he stands a great chance to benefit a lot from this investment. The profit he gets from the loan shall be used to pay school fees for his children and provide food for the family.

He intends to repay the loan in eighteen months and the first installment of repayment shall be made on the fourth month from the date of loan disbursement.

The Grounded and Holistic Approach to People's Empowerment (GHAPE) is a non-profit NGO based in Bamenda, Cameroon.
