Mrs. Chhoy Khut, 64, and her husband, Mr. Sroing Sang, 67, live on an island in the Mekong River about fifteen kilometers from Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia. They were married in 1964 and have six children: three sons and three daughters. Their three sons are married and live outside the family home. One daughter weaves at home and the other two are garment factory workers.
Chhoy and her husband are farmers. They grow bananas and cucumbers. The couple is in the process of building a new house, but they lack some money to finish it.
