The four members of the group Benkadi are married women who average 27 years of age and one child each. They live in monogamous families in Mancourani II, a district in Sikasso City (third administrative region of Mali. They are collaborating with the micro-finance institution Soro Yiriwaso in order to satisfy the needs of their customers and are now on their second solidarity loan. The first was repaid without difficulty. The women do a diversity of work, including selling potatoes, yams, atiéké (dried fermented cassava), and incense.

With this new loan, the group members intend to buy ten 100-kg sacks of potatoes, four 100-kg sacks of atiéké, one donkey cart-load of yams, twenty kilos of gueni (a fragrant root) and magnonkisèni (a fragrant seed), perfumes, and more (for making incenses). Supplies are gotten at the marketplaces of Bamako, Médine, and Sikasso City and in neighboring towns. The merchandise is sold retail to customers composed of men and women, cash and often credit accepted, at different marketplaces of Sikasso and while going door-to-door.

The group members each envision realizing an average monthly profit of 18,250 francs CFA. A portion of the profits will be put into savings, and the other portion will be invested in business. Certain group members have the ambition of buying a plot of land on which to live; other members, to become wholesalers.
