Matilda Owusu

Matilda Owusu is thirty-seven year old married woman with a one child who is still breastfeeding. Matilda’s husband works as Disc Jockey in a radio station. She lives with her family at Oda in the Eastern Region of Ghana. Most of the inhabitants of Oda are actively involved in farming.

Matilda is a dealer in electrical and electronic parts like speakers, transistors, transformers, screwdrivers, wire, television cords, antennas etc. She buys her supplies from importers at wholesale prices and sells to her customers at retail prices. She expects to increase her profits if she receives her loan, She wants to invest the loan in higher inventory of electrical and electronic parts. She hopes to increase her savings so that she can expand her shop and include refrigerators and parts. She is a member of a group called “Adehyee Mma” (Translated, Royals) Trust Group. In this group, members guarantee and provide support to one another to repay the loan.
