Abdallah

Abdallah is a 38-year-old man who lives in Bourj El Barajneh in the southern suburbs of Lebanon with his wife and their three children. Abdallah has owned a bakery since 2003. He makes “mankoucheh.” A mankoucheh looks like a folded pizza and the most common toppings are zaatar (thyme), jebneh (cheese) and lahm bi ajin (minced meat). You can eat it any time of the day, but somehow it tastes better in the morning. Abdallah requested a loan of $1,300 from Kiva's partner Al Majmoua in order to purchase merchandise for his shop. Abdallah has been a micro-credit client for five years now and has always paid on time.

His previous loans helped him improve his work as well as his financial situation. His clients are his friends, neighbors and people from his region. When he first started his business, he didn’t face difficulties. Abdallah decided on doing his business because he wanted to work independently. In the future, he plans on expanding his shop.
