Mrs. Hon Soam Village Bank Group

This village bank, which consists of eighteen members, is located in Sdau Kanlaeng village in Kandal province and they plan to use the loan which they obtained for different purposes. Mrs. Hon Soam is the village bank president, who has been selected by the members. She is a farmer who owns a 1.5 hectares of land where she cultivates rice to earn a living. In this plantation, she faces a problem because she does not have enough money to hire laborers to harvest the rice. Thus, she decided to ask for a loan for this purpose. Her husband, Mr. Rath Chhin, is a construction worker. Mrs. Hon Soam is a 49 year old mother of six children, two of whom are construction workers, while the other three are employed in a garment factory, and the remaining one attends the local school.



About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee. Under this arrangement, each member of the group supports one another and is responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults. Learn more
