Dora Yaa

Dora Yaa is a twenty-nine-year-old trader. She is married with one child who is currently attending school. Her child is in school with the help of the government's free compulsory education. It is Dora's daily dream to provide quality education for her child and for the children who are yet to come.


She lives at a family house in Takroase in the eastern region of Ghana. Within the community, there are diverse businesses, including miners and farmers. Dora owns and operates a grocery store with items like rice, canned food and drinks,cooking oil, biscuits, candy and evaporated milk. Dora says commodity prices are rising in the market, making it difficult to meet her target. She wants to use the loan to buy cartons of evaporated milk, bags of rice, canned food and drinks and cooking oil to increase her stock of goods. With increased stock in different varieties, she hopes to make more income to provide for her child's educational needs. Dora belongs to a village bank called 1st Kings.
