Kalule Alice‘s Group

Alice is 50 years old and married with seven children, aged between 13 and 26 years. She owns a three roomed house where she is staying with ten people. She has access to electricity and piped water at home. Her family gets three meals a day. Alice sells second hand clothes in the Kawempe market. She uses public transport to and from shoping and she buys her supplies from the Owino Market, one of the busiest markets in Uganda. Her monthly expenses include rent for her business premises and school fees for her children.

Alice sells to all categories of people and works six days week. She has been in this business for over three years. This is her eighth loan since she joined MCDT and has been with the organization for four years, working with the same group loan mates. Alice wants to use this loan to buy more clothes for resale. She hopes to see her business grow bigger and eventually own a permanent business premises.










About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee. Under this arrangement, each member of the group supports one another and is responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults. Learn more
