Ana Isabel Araya Fernandez is a 35 year old lady living in a rural community of Costa Rica called Abanico, located in San Isidro de Penas Blancas, San Ramon, Province of Alajuela. It is known as a quiet community, dedicated to productive activities such as farming, cattle raising and tourism. Her family includes herself, her husband and four children; Alejandro, Gustavo, Kevin and Sebastian.

For the last 9 years, Ana Isabel has dedicated her time to sewing, she says that she has been able to do this thanks to a course that she took in the National Training Institute (INA) and since that time this has been her work. She makes a variety of garments which she then sells in businesses in the community and surrounding areas, or directly out of her home. Her business has tremendously improved the living conditions of her family. She adds that she feels useful and happy when she finishes a garment, because it gives her much satisfaction to present to a customer a product that is as they want. The ability to provide good service to people and fulfill their requirements are the reasons her business is a success

Mrs. Araya is currently needing a loan of 650.000 colones for the purchase of materials, such as cloth, thread, lace among others, for the making of all classes of garments. Thanks to this loan, she will be able to attract more customers, offer better alternatives and considerably improve the quality of her products.

Ana Isabel is part of the Community Credit Company of Abanico, one of the 100 partner organizations of EDESA in Costa Rica. As a member she has received a total of 3 micro-loans, for the amounts of 100.000, 250.000 and 500.000 colones, which have allowed her to develop as a small businesswoman, due to her using them to purchase business assets.

Ana Isabel Araya Fernández es una señora de 35 años de edad, quien vive en una comunidad rural de Costa Rica llamada Abanico, ubicada en San Isidro de Peñas Blancas, San Ramón, Provincia de Alajuela; reconocida como una comunidad amiga de la tranquilidad y dedicada a actividades productivas tales como la agricultura, ganadería y turismo. Su familia está compuesta por ella, su esposo y cuatro hijos: Alejandro, Gustavo, Kevin y Sebastián.

Desde hace 9 años doña Ana Isabel se dedica a la costura, dice que se ha podido desempeñar gracias a unos curso que recibió en el Instituto Nacional de Aprendizaje (INA), y desde entonces esta ha sido su labor; el la cual elabora diferentes tipos de prendas de vestir que luego vende en negocios de la comunidad y sus alrededores, o incluso la llegan a buscar a directamente a su casa. Su negocio ha hecho que la condición de vida de su familia haya mejorado mucho. Agrega que se siente útil y feliz cuando termina una prenda porque es de gran satisfacción el poder entregarle el producto al cliente tal y como éste lo desea. El poder brindar un buen servicio a las personas y cumplir con sus exigencias, son la base del éxito del negocio.

Actualmente la señora Araya requiere un préstamo de ¢650.000 (seiscientos cincuenta mil colones) para comprar materiales tales como telas, hilos, encajes, entre otros, requeridos para confeccionar toda clase de prendas. Afirma que gracias a este préstamo podrá atraer a más clientes, ofrecer mejores alternativas y mejorar considerablemente la calidad de sus productos.

Doña Ana Isabel forma parte de la Empresa de Crédito Comunal de Abanico una de las 100 organizaciones socias de EDESA en Costa Rica. Como socia ha recibido un total de 3 microcréditos, por montos de ¢100,000, ¢250,000 y ¢500,000, los cuales le han permitido desarrollarse como microempresaria gracias a que los ha destinado para compra de activos.
