Aidah Kembabazi's Group

Aidah Kembabazi is 55 years old and married with 5 children aged between 19 and 34 years. Three of her children go to school. She owns a five room house where she lives with six people. She doesn’t take care of additional family members. She has access to electricity and piped water at home and her family gets three meals a day.

Aidah runs a retail shop to earn her living in Kisaasi, a suburb. She rents her stall at 65,000 a month and receives about 20 customers a day. She sells to a variety of people. Aidah uses public transport to and from shopping in Kampala, Uganda. She works seven days a week and has been in this business for 6 years. She also raises pigs.

Aidah is faced with thieves who break in and steal all her merchandise. She is trying to build a strong block to curb thieves. This is her 8th loan since joining MCDT and has been with MCDT for 4 years and has worked with the same group mates. Aidah wants to use this loan to buy more merchandise for her shop. Aidah is aspiring to own a wholesale shop from her savings .





About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee. Under this arrangement, each member of the group supports one another and is responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults. Learn more
