Reyna's Clothing Business Doing Well

Entrepreneur: Reyna Luz Ruíz
Location: Masaya, Nicaragua

Business has been favorable since she received her loan from CEPRODEL said Reyna. Her business is selling clothing, shoes, and sandals. The loan allows her to travel to Costa Rica to sell her goods instead of selling them in Nicaragua. She makes a lot more money when she sells them in Costa Rica because prices are better there. She also said the business in Nicaragua is really bad right now and sales are way down. If she didn’t have the money to travel to Costa Rica life would be very hard right now. When she travels to Costa Rica, she takes the bus and it is an overnight trip. She stays in Costa Rica for about 4 days before coming home.

She used her loan to buy shoes and clothing to sell. “I am maintaining my business,” she said, “I have to keep working to pay my loan back, but the loans have benefited us.” Now she would like to get a larger loan, so she can buy even more clothing. She can’t get a larger loan from CEPRODEL without putting something else up as collateral. Right now her refrigerator serves as collateral.

In the future, Reyna would like to keep working so she can support her children, especially her daughter who is currently in college. She would also love to have her own store, possibly where her front porch is now, where she can sell her goods without having to travel. She is married with 3 children. The oldest, age 20, is currently in College. The other two, ages 12 and 18, are in secondary school.

A brief translation of the video: Reyna says, My name is Reyna Luz Ruiz and I am the mother of three children. My business is to travel and sell clothing and shoes. I would like a larger loan and I hope they will consider my case.

The video did not attach properly to the first update on Reyna's business that I posted yesterday. In the video, Reyna says her name, that she is the mother of 3 children, and that she would like to be considered for another, larger loan.
