Avenir Plus Group

Marie-Angel Bolumbu entered the world of small business in 1995 after her husband died. Selling chikwangues (a kind of homemade bread), which she makes from cassava flour, constitutes the main work of her business. She also sells salted and smoked fish. By making and selling chikwangues, she began her business. After hard work and good managing, her business has prospered. With the profits and the accumulated experience over the years, she managed to diversify her commerce by including salted and smoked fish.

Following the growing demand of her customers and wanting to grow her profits, so as to provide for her household, she decided in 2008 to join a group of the micro-finance institution HOPE RDC named “Avenir Plus”. This April, she used the loan she received to buy a sack of cassava and a few baskets of salted and smoked fish with the goal of boosting her capital. Right now, her working capital amount to $120. Her business generates $30 a week. Her ambition is to open a house of fresh staple foods, which sell better in her outlying district located in northern Kinshasa.

Marie is 57 years old and has two children, ages 30 and 33. The one who is 30 lives with her.

Marie-Angel Bolumbu est entrée dans le monde de petites affaires depuis 1995 après le décès de son mari. La vente des chikwangues qu’elle fabrique à base de la farine de manioc (Kind of homemade manioc flour bread), constitue l’activité principale de son affaire. Elle vend aussi des poissons salés et fumés. C’est avec la fabrication et la vente des chikwangues que Marie a commencé son commerce. Après un dur travail et une bonne gestion, son affaire a prospéré. Avec des bénéfices et expérience accumulés aux cours des années, elle est parvenue à la diversifier en y ajoutant des poissons salés et fumés. Suite à la demande croissante de ses clients et dans le souci d’accroitre le bénéfice de son affaire afin de subvenir aux besoins de son ménage, Marie a décidé en août 2008, d’intégrer un des groupes de l’IMF Hope RDC dénommée « Avenir Plus ». Elle a acheté avec le crédit reçu au mois d’avril en courant 1 sac de manioc et quelques paniers des poissons salés et fumés dans le but de renforcer son capital. Actuellement, Marie totalise un capital propre de $120. Son affaire génère $30 par semaine. Son ambition est d’ouvrir une maison de vivres frais qui se vendent mieux dans son quartier périphérique qui se situe au nord de Kinshasa. Marie a 57 ans. Elle a deux enfants dont l’âge varie de 30 à 33 ans. Celle de 30 ans vit avec elle.
