The Company: Google's innovative search technologies connect millions of people around the world with information every day. One of the early Google.org projects was to create the Google Grants program, which gives free advertising to selected non-profits. To date, Google Grants has donated $33M in advertising to more than 850 non-profit organizations in 10 countries.

The Partnership: Kiva is a Google Grants recipient, receiving free advertising through Google Adwords. This partnership allows Kiva to attract new lenders by promoting the website at the moment an internet user is looking for more information on poverty alleviation, and is invaluable to Kiva's continuing success.


Yahoo! The Company:Yahoo! Inc. is a leading global internet brand and one of the most trafficked Internet destinations worldwide. Yahoo!'s mission is to connect people to their passions, their communities and world's knowledge. Yahoo! is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California.

The Partnership:Yahoo! has provided Kiva with free Yahoo! Search Marketing keywords in the past that enable more internet users to become aware of Kiva and the opportunity to lend to an entrepreneur online. In addition, various Yahoo! employees are helping Kiva develop a more robust online platform towards the aim of creating a long lasting internet public good.


The Company: Intel, the world’s leader in semi-conductor technology, pushes the boundaries of innovation so it’s work can make people's lives more exciting, fulfilling, and manageable. Intel never stops looking for the next leap ahead—in technology, education, culture, manufacturing, and social responsibility. And it never stops striving to deliver solutions with greater benefits for everyone.

The Partnership: In 2009, Intel launched the small things challenge (http://www.smallthingschallenge.com). Through this online challenge, Intel will donate 25¢ per click to support Kiva.org and Save the Children. Intel wants to rally millions of people so that 25¢ can become $300,000 in 2009.

The Partnership: Oliver Wyman has entered into a strategic partnership with Kiva as part of the firm's industry-leading Non-Profit Fellowship (NPF) program. The Oliver Wyman - Kiva partnership provides Kiva with dedicated, on-going support from Oliver Wyman consultants, who spend between 4-6 months at Kiva's San Francisco office working alongside Kiva staff to tackle pressing business issues. The Company: Lenovo is dedicated to building the world's best-engineered personal computers. The company develops and manufactures reliable, high-quality, secure, and easy-to-use technology products and services worldwide. Lenovo is committed to supporting 100,000 entrepreneurs by 2010 through its Hope Through Entrepreneurship program.

The Partnership: Lenovo helps support Kiva's mission by donating PC products, primarily laptops, to Kiva. Kiva distributes some of the laptops to equip Kiva's qualified microfinance partners, and uses the other laptops to support Kiva staff and field representatives. Lenovo also provides Kiva with grants for operational expenses and to fund an engineering employee.


The Company:YouTube is a popular free video sharing website which lets users upload, view, and share video clips. Videos can be rated; the average rating and the number of times a video has been watched are both published. Founded in February 2005, the company was named TIME magazine "Invention of the Year" for 2006.

The Partnership: YouTube has generously donated 120 million free banner placements to Kiva. The banners increases Kiva's exposure to web users and gives those searching through videos on YouTube the opportunity to link directly to the Kiva website.


The Company: Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP is a global law firm with 980 lawyers in North America, Europe and Asia. The firm focuses on litigation, complex and novel finance and innovative corporate transactions. The Partnership: The Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation member firms serve as local counsel and work with Orrick lawyers to provide pro bono legal advice on Kiva's entry into new countries. The Foundation provides valuable local legal resources that serve to supports Kiva's growth and expansion.

The Company: Facebook is a social utility that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them. People use Facebook to keep up with friends, upload an unlimited number of photos, share links and videos, and learn more about the people they meet.

The Partnership: Kiva partners with Facebook to reach thousands of Kiva community members through Facebook Causes and Beacon. Causes allows Kiva supporters to connect with each other on Facebook; Beacon gives Kiva lenders the option to spread the word about Kiva and their activities on Kiva to their Facebook network.


The Company: American Express is a leading global payments, network and travel company founded in 1850. American Express operates in over 130 countries around the globe. Now in its second year, The American Express Members Project offers card members the opportunity to join a community that's passionate about making a positive change in the world by voting on which projects get $2.5 million in American Express funding. To date, Members Project has funded $4.9 million to projects chosen by Cardmembers in the areas of Arts & Culture, Community Development, Environment & Wildlife, Education, and Health.

The Partnership: With the help of Kiva lenders and American Express Cardmembers, Kiva’s project “Loans that Change Lives” garnered 19,543 votes to earn a $300,000 third place prize in the 2008 Members Project competition. Kiva is using its new funds to expand the selection of business that can be funded on the Kiva Web site.


The Company: Advanta Corp. was founded in 1951 by Jack Alter, a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania schoolteacher, to provide loans to fellow teachers based on their individual needs. The Partnership: The KivaB4B Project is Advanta's most recent endeavor to empower small businesses and entrepreneurs. The Project encourages U.S.-based small businesses and entrepreneurs to support entrepreneurs in developing countries. When any of the 1.3 million Advanta business cardholders uses an Advanta BusinessCard to help an entrepreneur through Kiva, Advanta matches those funds (up to $200 per month per account). Several months of research in East Africa led to key technology innovations at Kiva. Most notable is a cell phone based information management system for loan officers using Kiva. Loan officers in Uganda are currently piloting the use of camera phones with Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) protocol to relay field information instantaneously to Kiva's website. Kiva.org looks forward to the pilot results, its expansion to other Field Partners worldwide and real cost savings to take effect.
