Kiva Loan Review Team Leaders

Have you ever wondered how Kiva manages to post so much content on Kiva.org?

Behind the scenes, our dedicated worldwide teams of editing and translation volunteers review each and every loan description that comes in from the field and prepare them for posting. With Kiva's success, these teams are growing. To keep them working smoothly, we need several volunteers to lead teams of up to 30 members. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to use their professional skills to make an impact, who would love to volunteer with the dynamic, creative organization that invented web-based person-to-person microfinance, and wants to do all this from the comfort of their home office, kitchen table, or neighborhood internet cafe.

Team Leaders will:

• Maintain regular email contact with their team to train, coach, and problem-solve
• Answer basic questions from volunteers
• Escalate policy and technical questions to Kiva staff
• Monitor their team's volume and loan review turnaround time
• Exchange ideas and perspectives with other team leaders and Kiva staff in regularly scheduled conference calls
• Help develop and document best practices for volunteers and team leaders on the department wiki

Successful candidates will have these essential skills and qualities:

• Can commit six to eight hours a week for a minimum of 12 months
• Native-level English fluency
• Is a strong communicator and supremely organized
• Can forge effective working relationships with colleagues they've never met
• Enjoys working collaboratively in a team environment
• Enjoys establishing and reaching targets, both for themselves and for their team
• Has mature judgement and can work with little supervision
• Comfortable with internet, email, and basic office applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets

Ideal, but not essential:

• Experience managing volunteers
• Experience working on/managing teams that are geographically distributed
• French, Spanish, Portuguese or Russian language skills a plus
