Location: San Francisco, CA – Downtown/Mission District
Job Type: 6 month unpaid internship position, full time is preferred (min 25 hours per-week)

We are constantly working to make the system more transparent to show how money flows throughout the entire cycle, & what effect it has on the people & institutions that lend, borrow, & manage it along the way. Our technology enables one-to-one interpersonal connections & lending at the lowest possible cost.
Job Description: Do you tweet and use Facebook every day, all day? Is building social community so ingrained you just can't stop? Do you take pride in customer service excellence and fancy yourself an entrepreneur? We seek a highly a motivated individual with experience and fanatical passion for blogging, micro-blogging and community participation leadership. The Social Media intern position will substantially grow Kiva's presence on Internet based social networks by engaging our members through competitions, contests and campaigns.
Job Responsibilities:
- Identify, manage, and grow Kiva's presence on Internet based social communities (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, MySpace)
- Coordination and facilitation of national / international network of enthusiastic lenders ("Kiva Champions") who can spread the word about Kiva
- Develop and launch social campaigns, competitions and contests
- Analyze campaigns and translate anecdotal or qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising the social media campaigns
- Draft a badge or reward system to increase competition among Kiva lending teams
- Post official bulletin messages on all channels once a month from Kiva's staff
- Post 2-5 updates/messages on all channels each week
- Ensure all YouTube videos from Kiva Fellows, Kiva Staff, and Press live in one channel
- Work with Community Outreach Director to reach out to Social Network staff and ask for free promotion
- Co-develop quarterly growth strategies and tactics with Community Outreach Director
- Identify key metrics and track growth on all channels
- Compile weekly progress reports; Director will circulate monthly results summary to Kiva management team
- Identify threats and opportunities in user generated content surrounding our brand, report to appropriate parties
- Evaluate program and refine to improve results delivery
Ideal candidate
- BA or equivalent degree required
- Has work experience or training in advertising, PR online marketing or similar field
- Demonstrated creativity and documented immersion in social media and internet communities
- Dedicated to blogging and use of Facebook and Twitter
- Demonstrated ability to map out a marketing strategy and then drive that strategy proven by testing and metrics
- Ability to jump from the creative side of marketing to analytical side, able to demonstrate why their ideas are analytically sound
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, possesses functional knowledge or some experience with HTML/CSS
- Has excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work individually on a project or in a team environment
- Is self directed, eager to meet and exceed objectives, and excited to take on more responsibility
- Brings to the position organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
- Ability to communicate results to Director and in a fast paced environment
- Ability to plan, organize, and evaluate tasks at hand as well as foresee upcoming creative opportunities
- Someone with a "ready to help" attitude
- Strong commitment to ethics, honesty, and integrity in conducting business
