Job Description:

Kiva is looking for a motivated volunteer to work with our CFO and Accounting Manager to analyze the "loan funds" account, inform projections, and evaluate our reconciliation methodology. For this project, you will gain an understanding of the fund flows at Kiva, improve upon our framework for daily reconciliation of the funds, and analyze lender trends.

Core Tasks:

  • Understanding the flow of funds — Incoming funds from lenders, outgoing funds to partners, flow of funds through our proprietary accounting system
  • Loan Funds Reconciliation Model — Evaluate and improve upon our system for daily reconciliation of all transactions in Kiva’s loan funds account
  • Analyze Lender Trends — analyze our lender data to inform revenue projections

Ideal Core Skills and Experience:

  • Basic Accounting
  • Experience with database systems and modeling
  • Knowledge of MySQL
  • Ability to work independently in a flexible work environment
