Status update on FAPE from Kiva Staff on October 27, 2009: Kiva is aware of the high delinquency rate for FAPE. This has been caused by a reporting error, so the delinquency rate for FAPE is overstated. We are currently working with FAPE staff to resolve the problem. We apologize for the inconvenience.

The Foundation for Assistance for Small Businesses (Spanish Acronym: FAPE) is a private, non-profit, Guatemalan organization whose principle objective is to provide small monetary loans to small business owners. FAPE was founded over 25 years ago with a strong social mission to help improve the lives of Guatemalans living in a state of poverty. We work primarily with women and impoverished communities with little or no access to financial services and traditional credit services. Along with providing low interest loans, we incorporate entrepreneurial trainings and encourage saving in an attempt to drive improvement in both business and home. We also incorporate Christian Biblical principles and values into our training activities.
